How to Create a Holiday Marketing Masterplan
When to start?
The holiday sales season is rapidly approaching, so now is the time to gear up and start planning your holiday marketing masterplan! In this blog you will find helpful seasonal information, guidelines and creative sales ideas to implement into your planning, so let’s get to it!
Where to start?
This is the hardest part. How do I start this masterplan and set myself up for success?
- Step one! Holiday sales calendar! Get old school and print out a November and December calendar, mark down the big days for sales and then start a list of ideas for each day.
- Plan out gift bundle ideas. Search for the sales and pieces that you can group together to make a cute gift set. For example, a top, jeans, handbag and earrings.
- Plan out gift collections under X, Y, Z, such as a gift collection of items all under $50, $25, $15 price points.
- Put together a gift guide. Even if you aren’t buying items special for the holiday season, use Bloom items to curate a guide. Put together items for mom, grandma, teacher, etc.
- If you’re giving back this season, put together an Amazon Wishlist for items to be purchased for Toys 4 Tots. Have the items shipped to you to drop off the gifts at a Toys 4 Tots location. This makes it super easy to get your boutique involved!
What are the big days for sales?
- Pink Friday: November 22. This is YOUR DAY! Specifically made for boutique owners.
- Black Friday: November 29. Will you do doorbusters or a gift with purchase? Offering a free gift like a $5 Starbucks gift card for each purchase is an example, and is a good way to get customers to tag you and their gift on social media!
- Small Business Saturday: November 30. That’s you, make sure you bring the wow factor!
- Cyber Monday: Monday December 2. Time for online sales. But don’t give away the farm by doing large blanket sales!
- 12 Days Of Christmas: specials/discounts/promos for 12 days!
- Boutique Bucks
Do you have to do ALL OF THESE PROMO’S? Absolutely not! Pick a few and get creative. Don’t overwhelm yourself and your shoppers by doing one hundred different sales on multiple days. Select a few ideas, plan and execute!
What is “The 12 Days of Christmas?”
A fun way to spice up the Holiday shopping and get creative! You don’t have to commit to 12 days of sales either. Think outside of the box!
- Free shipping day
- Bogo day
- Give back to your shoppers: pizza on you, coffee on you, etc.
- Bundle ideas
- Spend X on gift cards; get X free
Remember to make the days fun and unique so your shoppers keep talking about it and want to come back!
What are Boutique Bucks?
This promo can help generate sales in typical slow sales months of January and February when shoppers are coming off a high from holidays spending. Boutique bucks can be used to spend X today and get X to use in January and February (state this offer expires February 28).
Tips to remember
Shoppers, especially online shoppers, want to buy from people they like, know and trust. They don’t want to just be another “person.” That is why they’re coming to you and not a big box store. Since most people shop based on emotions, wow them, stand out and be YOUnique!
How will Bloom celebrate the Holiday shopping?
Bloom will be offering shimmery tops, holiday sweaters, holiday earrings, New Years Eve dresses and of course, a BLACK FRIDAY SALES collection with 30-50% off selected items! Black Friday sales are perfect for putting together low-cost items and bundle collections, while still having a good profit margin.
We hope this blog is helpful and just what you needed to jump start your holiday planning now! Get creative, stay focused and have fun!
From our Bloom Dropship team to yours, Happy Holidays!
