Grow Business with Email and Text Marketing
Email and text marketing are tools within your bag of business tricks that help get you in front of customers. Both systems will help you reach a much wider audience, outside of just social media. Each system will help you not only increase site traffic, but also help you build rapport with customers and encourage brand loyalty.
The “why” of email marketing
While email can seem “old school,” it is still at the top of the list for ways to market. There is a whole audience of customers that you may meet that don’t live for social media, but will check their email; so why rule them out because they aren’t following you on Facebook or Instagram?
Email marketing is a measurable way to increase revenue, build relationships and credibility with your customers. It also allows you to track your click and open rates, revenue earned per email, and better target the right audience for a specific email at the right time of the day or week. It inspires an action and creates site traffic. And site traffic is the overall goal, right?
Types of email marketing
With email marketing, you can get as fancy as you’d like. From automated emails such as a welcome series, a birthday series and abandon cart series, to weekly emails that talk about promotions, sales, new arrivals and events. Emails can bring you to the front of someone’s list, just by being there.
The “why” of text marketing
Meet your customers where they are at: that is usually on their mobile phones. Text marketing has a proven open rate of 98% and studies show that most people read their text messages within the first 2 minutes of receiving it. So why are you not sending these?
Text marketing allows you to get more personal, they are quicker to send, and you don’t have to rely on the internet. Text messaging can also be automated.
Types of text marketing
Text marketing can get a bit tricky from a legal standpoint. You MUST have permission to send people text messages. But once you are compliant, you’re good to go!
With text marketing, you can again automate your messages for a welcome series or abandon cart series, but you also can send a quick sale or promotional, or loyalty text. Why not do birthday specials and much more!
Below are a few things to remember when creating a text marketing campaign:
- Don’t get wordy, keep it short and simple. No long sentences
- Uses emojis to break up words and make it more appealing to the eye
- Text as if you’re talking with a friend
- Do use gifs or photos
When and how often
A rule of thumb with both types of marketing, don’t go overboard and bombard people. You want people to know you, but not be annoyed by you. Send about 1-2 emails and/or text per week but remember that you can always segment them out so that you are not emailing or texting everyone at once.
Be consistent with both, but don’t become spam!
Happy Marketing!
