Fashion Trends: What’s IN and OUT for Fall 2022
While summer blow-out sales are still hot and helping to generate increased sales for Bloom Dropship customers, clearly the addition of new fall pieces to recent weekly fashion launches has set the mood and anticipation for fall 2022 fashion trends.
Everyone wants to know what is in, and even more importantly, what is out as we assess the best trends, styles, and prints that will captivate our customer base and grow sales as warm summer breezes turn to cool autumn days. So, with that said, let’s get to it!
What’s In:
As far as prints go, plaid is at the top of the fall 2022 fashion runway and is being designed into all types of styles, such as jeans, tops, hoodies, dresses, sweaters, and cardigans. Flannel, plaid’s cousin, and Aztec print are also making a design splash with jackets. Blazers will have their moment this fall, especially longer, boxier styles in solid colors and plaid. Pair fitted base layers with your blazer offerings to keep the look modern.
Look for colors such as mustard, rust, mauve, taupe, beige, and olive green this fall, with patterns such as Aztec, boho, paisley, stripe, color block and patchwork taking center state. While tie dye has lost some of its shine, unique patterns of animal and camo print will delight this fall. And denim is back. Expect to see a variety of distressed and torn jeans with daring accents and stylish ankle lengths.
Expect to see Midis and maxi dresses this fall with striking patterns, details, and flexible lengths. Textures such as wool dobby, two-tone, waffle and French terry knits will offer cozy and comfortable choices, while stylish details like out seam overlock reverse stitching and crochet lace is here to say. While lounge wear is so yesterday, look for a variety of stylish hoodies, jackets, cardigans, cold shoulder pullovers and neck cut-out designs.
Accessories? Gold is hot, as are bracelets and necklaces made with gemstones, beads, or wood. Textured (think tassel) earrings and drop earrings are here to stay, while longer pendant necklaces will be replaced with shorter chains and small pendants. All fall closets need a bag or tote refresh, so select just-in hobo bags, colorful rectangle hand clutches and quilted faux leather shoulder bags in all shapes. Cross-body and shoulder totes will remain fall closet bag staples.
What’s Not In:
Lounge Sets: I think it is safe to say everyone is done with loungewear. We wore enough of it in 2020 and 2021 to last us a lifetime.
Infinity Scarves: Accessories matter, so rather than offer the oh-so-outdated infinity scarf, opt for traditional oblong shaped scarfs with frayed edges.
Pattern Fashion Leggings: Wearing patterned leggings will date your style. The only exceptions are for workout wear or for running errands.
Puffer Vests: While this classic wardrobe piece is practical for certain climates and situations, as a fashion trend, they are on their way out.
Long Pendant Necklace: The long chain, big pendant necklace is looking tired. Not all long pendants are terribly out of style, but specific styles like the big stone tassel pendants are out.
Riding Boots: They are not fashion-forward. Instead, opt for cowboy boots and ankle / platform boots in all textures -- from leather, faux suede to fabric.
Tie Dye: While hot this summer, tie dye will not make the runway this fall. But do not fret, it just might work its way back to summer 2023 with a new face!
Remember, trends exist on a spectrum. As a boutique owner, you do not need to stop selling styles and prints that are popular in your local market. Or stop offering fashion items on the “Not In” list. But our job as your fashion drop shipper is to keep you in the sweet spot of seasonal trends and all that Fall 2022 fashion has to offer.
So that is a wrap! We would love to get your feedback.
